Achom Agatha is a self-taught contemporary artist based in Kampala, Uganda. Though initially pursuing Architecture (dropped out) and later earning a degree in Tourism, her true passion for art remained undeniable. During the 2020 lockdown, she found the courage to fully embrace her creative calling, dedicating herself to painting and self-teaching. Without formal training, she honed her craft through intuition and exploration, allowing her creativity to flow freely. As an overthinker often overwhelmed by anxiety, Art is where she finds peace, the chaos quiets, and everything flows naturally. Her art is guided by intuition. The element of surprise in not knowing the final result and constant experimentation is what keeps her inspired. Her artwork reflects the unconventional parts of her, celebrating her authentic self and vibrant spirit. Achom’s work explores abstraction, contrast, layering and texture using a wide range of techniques to create compositions. Her 2D abstract compositions draw inspiration from nature, along with a variety of materials and textures.
